Muddy Bike Ride Details

Planned Activity: Muddy Bike Ride (most on tracks or paths)
Date: Saturday 23rd February 2008
Location: To be confirmed
Meet at: Usual meeting place Car Park, at 0930 on Saturday 23rd February
Collect from: Usual meeting place Car Park, around 1600 on Saturday 23rd February
Cost: Free
Transport: Parents need to ensure their kids arrive safely at the school car park with their bike
Limited number of places: For safety reasons, places are limited – Maximum number of 7 Cubs.
Weather: We’ll still go if it rains, just bring plenty of warm and waterproof clothes. Parents need to be contactable throughout (at least by mobile), especially if the weather is bad, as we may return sooner than planned if it’s really cold!

Please bring / wear: A bike – ideally a mountain bike / similar, in good safe working order, a helmet (this is essential), wear old clothes and shoes that can get muddy, and bring a small snack to keep your energy up, a packed lunch and a drink.

Please check your child's bike well in advance. Check the breaks and gears work, and that the tyres are well pumped up.

Bring:

your bike!

small rucksack
rucksack liner (eg strong bin bag) – to keep everything inside dry

inhalers if asthmatic

fleece
spare warm jumper
waterproof trousers
hat (for when we stop)
gloves

water / juice
food – bring a packed lunch

Also bring:
a complete change of clothes that can also get wet and muddy - in a carrier bag - you can give these to Spud at the car-park - he'll look after them for you - they're just in case you get soaked and miserable!!

Wear:

helmet
waterproof jacket
ideally, man-made tops eg polyester (like football strips etc) – try to have lots of thin layers
old trousers eg tracksuit
old shoes
