On Friday evening, 10 of our Cubs attended Mugdock Park for our Night Hike... SH, DW, CA and TF all earned their Hikes Away 1 Badge by attending. The others already have this badge, and are working towards their Hikes Away 5 Badge!
Many thanks to Mark, Stuart, Gerry and Diane for attending to help with supervision... I hope you all enjoyed it as much as the kids!
There were a few scary moments while we played hide n seek in the ruins of Mugdock Castle... great fun in the faint moonlight!
As usual, there was plenty of mud and loads of puddles... but overall it was a beautiful, still, and (relatively) warm night. Mugdock Loch was like a mirror as we looked across to the castle...
A huge well done is due to RB, who raised over £40 in sponsorship - half will go to Sport Relief, and half will go towards adventurous activities for our Cubs. The others who attended are planning to collect their sponsorship this week. These efforts also help the lads earn their Community Challenge Badge.
Lots of the guys had fun playing 'fluffy bunny' as a reward for working out correct 6-figure grid references. They also all learnt about using the key on OS maps... these skills helped CO, CW, and RB complete their Map Reader Badge. The others have one or two things left to do to complete this badge.
Adventure badges were also completed and earned by RH, CH, and DW.
A huge well done goes to all the lads who attended, and in particular those who have completed earning badges... I'll present you with them soon!
